Locke Development
A different approach to routine legal documents.
One of the earliest problems Locke Development addressed was access to routine legal documents. Even straightforward agreements often force an uncomfortable choice: pay professional fees that may exceed the value of the transaction, use a generic form with little understanding of what it contains, or rely on software that generates language without a sufficiently controlled legal structure.
Locke Direct was developed as a different approach. Rather than treating every document as an open-ended AI writing exercise, it is built around structured legal documents, defined questions, controlled content, and deterministic assembly. A customer selects a document, provides the necessary information through a plain-language workflow, reviews the result, makes a one-time purchase, and receives the completed document.
Core philosophy: AI can assist the process, but the finished legal instrument should not depend on a model improvising the operative language each time someone presses a button.
Direct established principles that continue throughout Locke Development: controlled information, transparent workflows, predictable outputs, and technology that assists the user without pretending to replace professional judgment.
Assembly is rule-driven and content-controlled. Users do not pick clause IDs or invent operative terms from a chat window.
