Lock Witness

Important information is most valuable when it is captured accurately and preserved reliably.

Audience: Device owners who need local-first evidence of unauthorized access attempts Model: Android security & evidence-preservation application

Overview

Not every problem Locke Development encountered belonged inside a law office. Some involved preserving evidence itself. That led to Lock Witness.

Lock Witness is an Android security and evidence-preservation application designed to record unauthorized attempts to access a device. When a failed PIN, password, or pattern unlock occurs, the application can create a locally stored evidentiary record using front-camera photography, optional video, location information, timestamps, device information, and cryptographic hashes.

Evidence remains under the device owner’s control until the owner chooses to export or share it. The product is intentionally local-first. It does not depend on quietly transmitting the user’s captured data to an external service.

Although Lock Witness operates in a different environment from Locke Prime or Locke Professional, it emerged from the same principle: capture accurately, preserve reliably, and make information available when it is needed.

What it captures

  • Failed PIN, password, or pattern unlock events
  • Front-camera photography and optional video
  • Location, timestamps, and device information
  • Cryptographic hashes for integrity of the local record

Design principles

  • Local-first storage under the owner’s control
  • Export and share only when the owner chooses
  • No quiet off-device transmission of captured evidence as a product dependency
